Smoking Policy

In August of last year Mayor Bill DeBlasio signed Local Law #147 requiring the owners of all Class A multiple dwellings, including all cooperative corporations and condominiums, to adopt a smoking policy not later than August 28, 2018. In compliance with these new requirements and to preserve the rights of residents and Shareholders who choose to smoke, while simultaneously limiting the impact of second-hand smoke on others, the following policy has been adopted by the Board and incorporated into the House Rules: Smoking is permitted inside apartments, provided that such smoking does not cause smoke to emulate from the apartment into the common areas of the building or into other apartments. 2018 Annual Shareholder Meeting

The 2018 Annual Meeting for shareholders of 200 East 16th Street Housing Corp. will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. The meeting will begin at 6:30pm and take place on the second floor conference room of the Seafarers International House located at 123 East 15th Street. This is the same location as prior years. Please be advised that East 16th Street between 3rd Avenue and Rutherford Place will be close to through traffic starting Monday, May 21st, through June 15th, 2018, in order to erect steel with a mobile crane. Third Avenue Façade Repairs

In order to perform mandatory façade repairs to the building along Third Avenue a pedestrian bridge will be installed on the sidewalk in front of the building on or about Monday May 7, 2018. The bridge will be fully alarmed and illuminated. At 12 feet in height it will be tall enough to clear the retail storefronts and their awnings. Repairs to the building façade will commence shortly after the bridge is in place so that it can be removed as soon as possible. We apologize for the disruption this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

Local 32-BJ Union Strike Averted

We are pleased to inform you that the Realty Advisory Board and Local 32-BJ Union, which covers building service employees, announced that they have successfully reached a new, four year, labor agreement ahead of the April 20th 2018 contract deadline. As a result there will be NO strike. Thank you for your assistance while we prepared for the possibility of a strike.

Strike By Building Service Employees

The contract with Local 32B-32J of the Building Service Employees Union expires at 11:59 PM on Friday, April 20, 2018. Your building is a member of the Realty Advisory Board on Labor Relations, which is actively negotiating with the Union on your behalf to reach a fair and equitable collective bargaining agreement. If an agreement is not reached prior to that time, the building employees may go on strike. Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detectors Installation

NYC law mandates that building owners, such as 200 East 16th Street Housing Corp., periodically inspect and install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors within 15 feet of every sleeping area upon the expiration of the alarm’s useful life. Building staff will begin installing these detectors the week of March 26, 2018. You will be contacted in a few days in advance of the day your floor is scheduled to be worked on.
