The new piece in our lobby is from famed contemporary artist Wade Guyton, and was generously donated for display by my board colleague Avo Samuelian from his personal collection. More than 80 of this artist’s works were featured at the Whitney Museum of Modern Art earlier this year.
This New York based artist has pioneered a body of work that explores our changing relationships to images and artworks through the use of common digital technologies, such as the desktop computer, scanner, and inkjet printer. NY Times describes his work as one that “combines the abstract motifs of generic Modernism and the recycling strategies of Andy Warhol and Pictures Generation artists like Richard Prince and Sherrie Levine.”
